Tammany Together Mayoral Forum; ‘How is Growth in Unincorporated Parts of St Tammany Affecting Their Cities?” Part 3 of 3

August 9, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

On April 18th, 2011 Mayors from across St Tammany Parish were asked by the Tammany Together Associaton to attend a public meeting; the forum was graciously attended by:

  • Mayor Freddy Drennan – Slidell, LA
  • Mayor Donald Villere – Mandeville, LA
  • Mayor Peter Gitz – Madisonville, LA
  • Mayor Candice Watkins – Covington, LA
  • Mayor Louis Fitzmorris – Abita Springs, LA

This is part 3 of the 3 part video, which I had to break up due to its length… In this series, one conscientious citizen asks the question; "With all of the growth in the Parish happening in the un-incorporated areas; how is this affecting growth in the incorporated areas?" And in this particular segment Mayor Villere of Mandeville and Mayor Watkins of Covington have the microphone. Hope you enjoy.

Thank You

Marc

Freddy Drennan; Mayor of Slidell Speaks at Tammany Together Meeting

August 8, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

On 4_18_11 The Tammany Together Association invited 5 St Tammany Mayors to an informal sitdown for their membership and the general public. In this video, Mayor Drennan of Slidell, speaks at length on the City of Slidell; including budget concerns and possible solutions. As with much of the country, Slidell is feeling the pinch, especially with West St Tammany building a mall, and therefore East St Tammany losing the sales tax revenue. Hope you enjoy.

5 St Tammany Parish Mayors Answer a Group Question; Tammany Together Meeting

August 6, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

On April 18th, 2011, The Tammany Together Association asked 5 St Tammany Mayors to attend an informal question and answer session. In this particular video all 5 Mayors are taped answering the question… “What aspect of their job do they feel is the most misunderstood by the public?”, With the caveat; “How do the Mayors get along with their city councilman?”

I was able to attend and video tape this Meeting of the Mayors, and was thoroughly impressed with their forward thinking, dynamic ideas. Hope you enjoy.

Thank You

Mandeville and Madisonville Real Estate Sales Review, June 2011

August 5, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Homes Sold; Mandeville, LA June 2011

The pie chart above illustrates data pulled for the Cities of Mandeville, LA 70448, 70471, as well Madisonville, LA 70447

=====

112 homes sold in Mandeville and Madisonville for the month of June 2011. This is a very nice increase over May, especially with our long hot summer months just beginning to kick in.

St Tammany is probably riding this storm out better than most, yet we still have a record inventory of REO properties on the market. These homes must be purchased, then we would see a rise in property values.  The caveat though is; "If we cannot stop the flow of homes headed for foreclosure, then we cannot stop the flow of REOs hitting the market…" and therefore cannot increase home values…

The Best Hurricane Preparedness Links for the State of Louisiana!

August 4, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

There is a wonderful lady who works with Louisiana State Representative Scott Simon’s Office, whom has graciously provided us this superb information on hurricane preparedness. With the season picking up speed and I fear about to get into full swing; being prepared for a Hurricane is A Important! Having experienced Katrina and no electricity for a month in this wonderful (note sarcastic tone…) Southern Louisiana September heat. Stocks of water and non-perishable food are more important than ever before and so is extra supplies of dog food for Fido, candles, matches, batteries, bug spray, and a multitude of other items you may not be able to put together in a short period of time. Lots of little things which could be missed in a time of extra stress and limited supplies… Be Prepared!

Directly from the Louisiana State Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Prepardness; www.getagameplan.org is a jam packed website with detailed Gameplans for potential emergencies and even possible evacuation. This extensive website also includes step by step videos for the novice. Check it out!

Also, here is an exemplary article titled; “Hurricane Preparedness – Preparedness is Everyone’s Responsibility.” which is provided by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. This article is detailed and to the point. This newsletter article also provides information for coastal residents and boat owners. Good information.

Good Lord willing; there will not be a use for this information, however when the case arises make a plan and do not panic. In due time this too shall pass.

If anyone has quality links to information for emergency and hurricane preparedness, please share. 2 heads are better than 1!

The weather is cooling down, and a lot of areas are going to be experiencing a dry season come fall and winter. That makes fire risks even higher, especially when you consider all of the people who will be burning leaves and building fires indoors and outdoors to keep warm. Just something to think about!
