Tammany Together Mayorial Forum; “How is Growth in Unincorporated Parts of St Tammany Affecting Their Cities?” Part 2 of 3

On April 18th, 2011 Mayors from across St Tammany Parish were asked by the Tammany Together Associaton to attend a public meeting; the forum was graciously attended by:

  • Mayor Freddy Drennan – Slidell, LA
  • Mayor Donald Villere – Mandeville, LA
  • Mayor Peter Gitz – Madisonville, LA
  • Mayor Candice Watkins – Covington, LA
  • Mayor Louis Fitzmorris – Abita Springs, LA

This is part 2 of the 3 part video, which I had to break up due to its extreme length… In this series, one conscientious citizen asks the question; “With all of the growth in the Parish happening in the un-incorporated areas; how is this affecting growth in the incorporated areas?” And in this particular segment Mayor Freddy Drennan of Slidell has the microphone and speaks for a bit on the subject. Freddy Drennan; Mayor of Slidell Speaks at Tammany Together Meeting

On 4_18_11 The Tammany Together Association invited 5 St Tammany Mayors to an informal sitdown for their membership and the general public. In this video, Mayor Drennan of Slidell, speaks at length on the City of Slidell; including budget concerns and possible solutions. As with much of the country, Slidell is feeling the pinch, especially with West St Tammany building a mall, and therefore East St Tammany losing the sales tax revenue. Hope you enjoy.

5 St Tammany Parish Mayors Answer a Group Question; Tammany Together Meeting

On April 18th, 2011, The Tammany Together Association asked 5 St Tammany Mayors to attend an informal question and answer session. In this particular video all 5 Mayors are taped answering the question… “What aspect of their job do they feel is the most misunderstood by the public?”, With the caveat; “How do the Mayors get along with their city councilman?”

I was able to attend and video tape this Meeting of the Mayors, and was thoroughly impressed with their forward thinking, dynamic ideas. Hope you enjoy.

Mayor Freddy Drennan of Slidell LA, Speaks About Raising Taxes, Tammany Together Meeting

April 18th, 2011, The Tammany Together Association invited Mayors from across St Tammany Parish for an informal meeting of the minds. In this video, The Mayor of Slidell speaks, at length, about his proposal of raising taxes in response to a budget crunch. Consequently, he states he has received alot of flack due to his ideas for solutions. From the sound of it; Slidell will have to cut back personel if there is not an increase in revenue for the City.  This is a 4 minute video, longer than most, but good material if you follow politics in Slidell. Tammany Together Mayorial Forum; What Advice Would You Give To Someone New Running For Mayor?

On April 18th, 2011, the Tammany Together Association corralled 5 Mayors from Cities across St Tammany Parish. In this segment the question is asked to the panel; “What advice would you give to a person who was new and running for Mayor?

  • Donald Villere; Mayor of Mandeville, LA
  • Peter Gitz; Mayor of Madisonville, LA
  • Louis Fitzmorris; Mayor of Abita Springs, LA
  • Freddy Drennan; Mayor of Slidell, LA

I was able to video tape this great meeting and get a chance to get close to these representatives of my home parish. In this light each one seemed much more personable, or maybe it was just my imagination or possibly just my preconceptions… Who knows? Regardless I listened to many different view points during the course of the evening and disgested what I felt was good information, therefore I am sharing this discussion. This particular video is longer than many of the others, however it contains all 5 Mayors answering this one question, so I felt there was a little leeway… Hope you enjoy.

106 Homes sold in East St Tammany Parish for May 2011. This is a major, almost 20% increase in volume, from the previous numbers recorded in April 2011. Since there is currently a record number of foreclosures on the market, we need for some of this low end, bank owned inventory, to be purchased by investors and first time home buyers. "Buy and Hold" is the key to making money in this market. Buy cheap, renovate, rent and then be patient… The purchasing of this large inventory will over time pick up home values. My wish at this time is for the very nice increase in sales volume from April to May to continue for the long haul. I firmly belive we have been mired in this muck long enough.
