Louis Fitzmorris; Mayor of Abita Springs, LA, Renovating the Abita Riverside Park.

July 29, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

April 18th, 2011, Tammany Together graciously pulled together 5 Mayors of St Tammany, including Louis Fitzmorris of Abita Springs who discusses the damage to the Riverside Park from hurricane Katrina and hence the wonderful donations from Abita Beer and Abita Lumber to renovate the Gazebo and raised walkway over the river.

I have ridden my bicycle through the park many times; stood overlooking the river, trying to spot a snake… I have had lunch under the gazebo with a lady as bright as the sun’s rays! My finger was slammed in the door, of the green car, by one of my sisters, in 1975 I think. We were filling up empty plastic milk jugs of Abita Springs water, for my Mama who lived in New Orleans. Filling up from the free well in downtown Abita. Wow that hurt!, and was a pretty good long time ago! 🙂 There is good water in Abita Springs, and hence… Now good beer too! LOL!

Thank You

Marc

July 27, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Donald Villere; Mayor of Mandeville, LA, talks of the many great amenities of his city. I have always enjoyed the beauty of the Lakefront, the excellent music at Ruby’s, and for grub; well personally, I usually get my poboys from Saia’s. However! There are about 2 dozen choices for great food in Mandeville. I mean, c’mon..? Nuvolari’s, Fazzio’s, N’Tini’s, Louie and the Red Headed Lady, Sweet Daddy’s, Bear’s, and many more I know I am not mentioning… Shoot I can think of 4 good Mexican places alone… I mean really? It is fair that we live here..? ðŸ™‚

Hope you enjoy. Thank You

Donald J Villere, Mayor of Mandeville, LA, Video, Tammany Together Meeting 4/18/11

July 23, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

This is a short video. On 4/18/11, The Tammany Together Association drew 5 St Tammany Parish Mayors together for an informal forum and Q and A session. In this video Mandeville Mayor Donald Villere points out how beautiful Mandeville is. I have spent beaucoup time in the peace and serenity of the Mandeville Lakefront; recharging. I probably should not bring this up, however… In the mid ’80s I remember swimming out to the “shack” and risking our lives jumping off the darn thing… Ummm… It seemed like a good idea at the time. 😀

Thank You

Louis Fitzmorris; Mayor of Abita Springs, LA, Shop in Abita!!, Tammany Together 4/18/11

July 21, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Louis Fitzmorris, the Mayor of Abita Springs speaks on shopping in Abita Springs, the arts and crafts, woot!! This video was taken at Christwood in Covingon on 4/18/11. This mayorial forum was called together through Tammany Together. I actually grew up outside of Abita off of Lowe Davis Road. Back in the early 80’s when the ABC grocery was still standing, myself and a friend would ride out bikes, ohhhh… (thinking hard…) probably 7 miles or so (each way…) to buy candy and play the video game in there. Journey, I think, was the video game. Something where you were the beetle spaceship, and you, as the band, flew around…?? Anyway, Abita Springs is a beautiful, friendly, special place and I have fond memories of this small town as a child.

Thank You

Marc
