WST Electric BBQ Mania I “Barnyard Smackdown”, A KCBS Sanctioned Event

A Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned Event.
Proceeds go to Children's Hospital in New Orleans.
Both Professional and Patio Circuit Cookoffs, with Prizes and Awards.
This sounds like a really good time. I love BBQ, and have tried my hand a few times at slow cooking / smoking different meats. (Mostly chicken and pork), however I am no where near good enough to enter a competitive event like this. Maybe next year. Though I will be there to enjoy some fine BBQ I expect.

St Tammany Parish Updated FEMA Flood Maps
There will be an open house for the public to view the preliminary maps on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 12/noon until 8 p.m. at the
St. Tammany Parish Permits Department

Slidell LA. 70461
FEMA and parish permits representatives will be available to discuss possible changes in the flood zone designations. They emphasize that these are the preliminary maps issued by FEMA.

Prepare for a Hurricane in St Tammany Parish
These are a few necessary items when preparing for a hurricane or planning to evacuate for a hurricane. Plan ahead, and be prepared. It is your behind on the line.

Have a personal disaster plan and kit ready. Doing so will make you prepared for any potential disaster including hurricanes and house fires.
Make sure you have an out-of-state contact, full tank of gas, medicines, water, and cash as part of your plan and that all family members know what to do. If you know of individuals who will need assistance help them connect to community resources such as 311. Include pets as part of your preparedness efforts.

Abita Springs Trail Head Museum
The Abita Springs Trail Head Museum is open to the public. Right now Children's artwork is on display. Please stop by to look around. You can enjoy lunch at the Abita Brew Pub or a bike ride on the St. Tammany Trace. Also if you're looking for a great family outing, the new park is and water fountain play area is open and the gazebo has plenty of shade and picnic tables if you want to dine alfresco.
