Louisiana State Representative John Schroder recently teamed up with the City of Covington, the New Orleans Hornets, AT&T and Chevron to build two new outdoor basketball courts at the Rev. Peter Atkins Park in Covington. To enhance this project, we are now raising money to build a cover for the courts. The goal is to help revitalize the neighborhood and create a lasting fixture in the community for our children to enjoy.
Friday, July 29 – Sunday, July 31, Hoops for Kids is hosting a premier 3vs3 regional high school basketball tournament with participation from the Southshore and Northshore. The tournament entry is $100 per team (4 players per team) and applications will be accepted from the first 100 teams. A patron party will be held Saturday, August 6.

A really great service has been presented to me and I feel obligated to share due to the good nature of the service. I will absolutely see you there, good Lord willing. Last year we had over 20 teams and 500 people who attended the event in Madisonville. Not to mention beau coup chili. This year we hope to have even more teams, and we have moved to the beautiful Mandeville Lakefront for our venue. Bring your appetites, and… well… for the children I recommed tums… pepto can be messy… or at the very minimum make sure to have a lot of papertowels on hand… LOL! Just kidding, we should have plenty of papertowels… And if we happen to run out, Lake Pontchartrain is very conveniently located (like 20 feet is some cases), so… we should be covered, or should I say NOT covered in Chili… <:-)

I came across this wildlife sanctuary after discovering a young blue jay whom had fallen out of a tall tree. We were unable to get him into a safe spot from the neighbors cats who, after hearing him chirp and the commotion from the parent blue jays, were scoping him out for the kill. Needless to say, we grabbed him up. Therefore if you happen to be in a similar situation and you come across a young wild animal, Wings of Hope will give them a strong chance at survival.

Hey peeps! I have some more information that I know some of you will be looking for. The 2011 Lacombe Crab Festival is coming up on Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26th. The hours for this great event is as follows:
There will be entertainment, rides, artwork, and FOOD…and it all takes place at John's Davis Park In Lacombe, Louisiana. Admission is $5.00 per person and all kids 10 and under are admitted for FREE!! We will see you there, and of course, we should have some awesome videos of this event too should you not be able to make it!

Hey guys and girls! It's Debbie again…I know that you have all been wondering about the 2011 Mandeville Seafood Festival and it is fast approaching, so I wanted to give everyone some information so they can plan accordingly. It runs from July 1 through July 4th at Fountainbleau State Park. According to the website, the hours are going to be
Senior Citizens 65 and older, Children 10 & under and Active Military get in FREE!!!!
