The Best Hurricane Preparedness Links for the State of Louisiana!

August 4, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

There is a wonderful lady who works with Louisiana State Representative Scott Simon’s Office, whom has graciously provided us this superb information on hurricane preparedness. With the season picking up speed and I fear about to get into full swing; being prepared for a Hurricane is A Important! Having experienced Katrina and no electricity for a month in this wonderful (note sarcastic tone…) Southern Louisiana September heat. Stocks of water and non-perishable food are more important than ever before and so is extra supplies of dog food for Fido, candles, matches, batteries, bug spray, and a multitude of other items you may not be able to put together in a short period of time. Lots of little things which could be missed in a time of extra stress and limited supplies… Be Prepared!

Directly from the Louisiana State Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Prepardness; www.getagameplan.org is a jam packed website with detailed Gameplans for potential emergencies and even possible evacuation. This extensive website also includes step by step videos for the novice. Check it out!

Also, here is an exemplary article titled; “Hurricane Preparedness – Preparedness is Everyone’s Responsibility.” which is provided by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. This article is detailed and to the point. This newsletter article also provides information for coastal residents and boat owners. Good information.

Good Lord willing; there will not be a use for this information, however when the case arises make a plan and do not panic. In due time this too shall pass.

If anyone has quality links to information for emergency and hurricane preparedness, please share. 2 heads are better than 1!

The weather is cooling down, and a lot of areas are going to be experiencing a dry season come fall and winter. That makes fire risks even higher, especially when you consider all of the people who will be burning leaves and building fires indoors and outdoors to keep warm. Just something to think about!

Hoops For Kids; 3 vs 3 Basketball Tournament, Covington, LA. July 29th through July 31st!

July 25, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Louisiana State Representative John Schroder recently teamed up with the City of Covington, the New Orleans Hornets, AT&T and Chevron to build two new outdoor basketball courts at the Rev. Peter Atkins Park in Covington. To enhance this project, we are now raising money to build a cover for the courts. The goal is to help revitalize the neighborhood and create a lasting fixture in the community for our children to enjoy.

Friday, July 29 – Sunday, July 31, Hoops for Kids is hosting a premier 3vs3 regional high school basketball tournament with participation from the Southshore and Northshore. The tournament entry is $100 per team (4 players per team) and applications will be accepted from the first 100 teams. A patron party will be held Saturday, August 6.

There are several sponsorship levels available for this great event, and we hope you will consider one of the following: Please see attached document below

Wooot!!! Louisiana House Bill 135 Passes 100 – 0 in LA House of Representatives!

June 3, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

I was there sitting in the balcony watching the proceedings below. My first time in the LA House of Representatives, and well WOW! There is alot going on! You have to pay attention and follow well because the pace is brisk. Be prepared. I actually took a little video which I will share as soon as I get a chance to edit. Good stuff, though I should have kept it running for about a minute more, ohh well. I have attached some good pictures which were taken in the waiting room outside the Louisiana House of Representatives.

I would like to thank Louisiana State Representative John Schroder and LA Realtors President Elect 2012 Rick Roberts. I am not sure who the other guy in the picture is… he looks a little familiar but… 🙂

Thank you LA State Representative John Schroder and Louisiana Realtors 2012 President Elect Rick Roberts.

Halfway There!

On May 24, the Louisiana House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted, 100-0, to pass House Bill 135, our transfer tax constitutional amendment.  Numerous Realtor were present at the State Capitol for REALTOR DAY and cheered loudly when the bill passed.

In all likelihood, HB 135 will be heard next in the Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee the week of June 6.  The Senate Floor vote could occur late in the week of June 6 or early the following week.  When the committee hearing is finalized, we will provide you with that information.

Remember to visit our campaign website, www.staytaxfree.com, and encourage your family, friends, neighbors, customers and clients to sign up for our campaign updates on the website.  It’s important that we begin now to build a database of supporters so we can drive those voters to the polls in November.

For more information, please contact Norman Morris at 1-800-266-8538.

=====

Be prepared to vote on HB 135 in November 2011. The Northshore Area Board of Realtors will be working hard on getting the word out. This is a good bill. It eliminates real estate transfer taxes from being enacted in the State of LA.

Less Taxes and Smaller Government!

Thank You

First Quarter 2011, Louisiana Realtors, Real Estate Trends Newsletter

May 17, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Download Louisiana Realtors Real Estate Trends 1st Quarter_2011

Attached you will find beau coup information pertaining to the recent, January through March 2011, real estate market in Louisiana.

I like what the fellow says about how a higher number of days on market, may be an indication of Sellers needing to get more inline with their homes current value. Home values have come down, as well there are alot of bank owned REO sales on the market, which is not helping owner occupant property values. Well… The good news is; Louisiana is weathering this economic storm better than many areas.

Standard and Poor’s Gives Louisiana AA Credit Rating. Best in 30 Years!

May 12, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Please click on The Times Picayune Editorial for the full story. However, I am in agreement. Bobby Jindal is good at his job and deserves credit. For the sixth time since he took office, one of the three major credit agencies has upgraded Louisiana's credit rating. Woot! Way to go Louisiana!

Thank You

Marc
