Driver’s License

New Residents must buy a LA Driver’s License within 30 days after establishing residency in the state.

Holders of valid out-of-state driver’s licenses are not required to take the driving or written test. However, they must the visual and other tests.

Proof of identity, residency, & insurance are required.

If you are moving from out-of-state, bring your current out of state license. Out of state applicants must present their birth certificates.

Bureaus will accept only cash, money order, or cashier’s check for the driver’s license. Fees vary according to parish.
