I came across this wildlife sanctuary after discovering a young blue jay whom had fallen out of a tall tree. We were unable to get him into a safe spot from the neighbors cats who, after hearing him chirp and the commotion from the parent blue jays, were scoping him out for the kill. Needless to say, we grabbed him up. Therefore if you happen to be in a similar situation and you come across a young wild animal, Wings of Hope will give them a strong chance at survival.

Volunteers Needed to Plant Trees in the Tchefuncte Marsh!

Time: 8:30 a.m. (Try to get there by 8:15)

Place: T-Rivers in Madisonville

Last year, around thirty of us volunteered to plant seedlings in the Tchefuncte Marsh. We really had a great time doing this. Cliff Siverd from the City of Mandeville contacted me today and asked if I could round up some volunteers to come back and plant more seedlings! We’ll be taken by small boat to the planting areas. They will provide digging dibbles for us to use.

The same guidelines as last year:

Wear shrimp boots

Bring gloves for working in muck

If you have a sharpshooter shovel, please bring it

And try not to fall into any holes like I did last year!

Small Flock of Wild Geese, Folsom, LA, Short Video

I was out feeding a few horses and I came upon this flock of geese. I tried to sneak up on them tactically, you know avoiding eye contact and all 🙂 … but they were wary and watched me all the way not once letting their guard down… Something close to 30 pairs of eyes watching my every step. Ambush will be the word of the day next time… 🙂

Ohh well… I got a few good shots of them as they were getting away.

Young Squirrel One of My Dogs Brought Home.

Here are a few pictures of a baby squirrel one of my dogs found near my home in Folsom. I Googled "raising baby squirrels" first thing and learned a few things, one of them being you have to go back and see if Momma is looking for her Baby. Give her about 2 – 3 hours, if not then comes the fun part of raising. Lucky for me I have a friend whom works for St Tammany Animal Services and so the young one is in good capable hands. He is lightning fast… Hard to get a good pic. 🙂

Mama bird nesting in our parking lot. What a suprise. She has four eggs now. Daddy flys in when you get to close, acts like he is injured, dragging a wing, to draw me away. Hope you like the pic.
