I have known and worked with the owner of AMC Computer Services for over 10 years. Allen is a knowledgeable, honest, fair, and basically a no BS guy when it comes to computers. No offense, but computer repair is similar to auto mechanics. Never send your wife or girlfriend to have the car worked on. The mechanics know she does not know, and they can use this to their advantage. It is the same with computers. When I used to work on computers I would have people tell me first thing… "I do not know a thing about computers!" This is the worst statement you can tell someone when you drop off your computer to be repaired. 🙂 This is simply leading the lambs to the slaughter. Play your cards close to your vest when in unfamiliar territory. When you find a good, honest, auto mechanic you stick with them, the same holds true for computer repair services.

St Tammany Parish Land Use Assessment / Agreement. I.E. Farm Status and Lower Property Taxes

This is a good program offered to property owners of 3+ acres, and may lower your property tax bill each year. The requirement for the tax cut is the land must commercially produce an average annual gross income of at least $2000.00 in one of the following specifications. To rephrase, you must have "Bona fide"

  • Agricultural Land
  • Horticultural Land
  • Timberland
  • Marshland

and make at least 2K each year off the land, i.e. selling 2K+ a year in yard eggs, or 2K+ a year in live oaks or geraniums, or 2K+ a year in saw logs or firewood.

The penalty is harsh for committing fraud on this form. This is why the Land Use Assessment is also called an Agreement. The penaly is 5 times the amount of the difference saved. I am attaching a scanned copy of the form obtained from the St Tammany Parish Assessor's Office. This copy is NOT FOR USE. You must go down to the Assessor's Office located at 701 N Columbia St, Covington, LA 70433. Here is a Google Map showing the exact location.

Ray and I have worked together on several home inspections. Ray is also a Certified Building Inspector and performs a very thorough home inspection, which he then turns into a detailed, including pictures of deficiencies, report which he emails to you.

Ray is also an LSUCCC registered Third Party Provider and may inspect a property for the Louisiana Hurricane Insurance Premium Incentives, provided through the Lousiana Department of Insurance. A really great program.

An absolute fantastic resource. The LSU AgCenter's LaHouse is an interactive, educational,  research project utilizing the input of a wide range of professionals knowledgeable in their fields of expertise. Home engineering, enviomental health, wood products, entemology and horticulture, to name a few…

For more information about the Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How? of the LaHouse? Please make sure to visit the link provided. It is too much information for me to begin to paraphrase.

This is a really great resource provided for everyone, to allow for the future improvements of all homes in Louisiana. In return providing a better quality, stronger, longer lasting, more comfortable, enviromentally friendly, less energy wasteful home.
