This is a good program offered to property owners of 3+ acres, and may lower your property tax bill each year. The requirement for the tax cut is the land must commercially produce an average annual gross income of at least $2000.00 in one of the following specifications. To rephrase, you must have "Bona fide"
- Agricultural Land
- Horticultural Land
- Timberland
- Marshland
and make at least 2K each year off the land, i.e. selling 2K+ a year in yard eggs, or 2K+ a year in live oaks or geraniums, or 2K+ a year in saw logs or firewood.
The penalty is harsh for committing fraud on this form. This is why the Land Use Assessment is also called an Agreement. The penaly is 5 times the amount of the difference saved.
