Mandeville Louisiana, New Base Flood Elevations; May 16th, 2012

The City of Mandeville Louisiana is incorporating new FEMA Flood Zone Maps on May 16th, 2012. Many residents of the City of Mandeville will see their required flood insurance premiums go down, adversely there are also some residents who will see their premiums raised. To make sure the best available information is given to the residents, the City is holding 3 "Open Houses" from 7pm to 9pm, at the following dates and locations:

  • January 11th - District III – Treen Technology Center – 2024 Livingston St
  • January 25th - District I – Pontchartrain Elementary School
  • February 1st – District II – Treen Technology Center – 2024 Livingston St

The SLU Economic Reporter is an excellent document which provides insight into the local economies for St Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington, Livingston, and St Helena Parishes. Anyone who wants a clear window into our local Northshore market should look closely at this paper. Just so you know… I find it very easy to go into a deep tirade of adjectives about the SLU Economic Reporter, something that sounds like; professional, informative, outstanding, competent, knowledgeable and invaluable resource. (Ummm… Just exactly how many constitutes a tirade? Did I meet the requirement?)  :)

This Quarter; Q1 2011, the SLU Economic Reporter details the current (or most recent data available) status of the Northshore Housing Market. Check it out. This is good information.

I include this survey conducted by the Gulf Coast Business Council, because it shows confidence in our economy. This survey is a barometer for how CEO's and Business Owners feel about the market in the year ahead, (on the Mississippi Gulf Coast), and in some cases the numbers are the highest they have been in 4 years. Woot!! A positive note and I wanted to make sure I shared it due to the gross amount of negativity we have experienced of late. I believe the economy in 2011 will grow, and for the simple reason of the recent elections and the large Republican influx into our government at all levels. The American people now feel there is a system of checks and balances back in place, to hold our current government, the Democratic party, from continuing their agenda of programs which are not wanted; I.E. Healthcare, Cap and Trade, The Dream Act; need I go on…?

The American People have spoken, loud and clear, and hence the economy will gain ground this year.
