Changes to St. Tammany flood zone maps anger residents. Courtesy of WWLTV News
This article focuses more on East St Tammany, but it could have an effect on the rest of the parish, just by the rate increase pushing people to move out of the new flood zones, getting to higher ground. Incorporating the more unincorporated areas of Pearl River and Talisheek, possibly even Abita Springs, especially with the fortune of an Interstate Exchange slicing through St Tammany Parish in the future. I think the main reason for the changes is 70% of Slidell flooding during Hurricane Katrina.
