Attached is a Critical Drainage Area / Flood Zone Map for St Tammany Parish.
Download St Tammany Parish Flood Zone Map
This is a clear, easy to use, PDF Map which can help clarify the flood zone for a parcel of land in St Tammany. This map is an excellent resource provided by our St Tammany Parish Government. However, this map is just a guideline, it was designed for planning purposes, just a word of caution, if your mortgage or insurance company states you are in a different flood zone… :) In my experience it has been an accurate map.
- Flood Zone A – Areas determined to be located in a 100 -Year floodplain. (Properties in flood zone A are required to carry flood insurance if a mortgage is held against the property.)
- Flood Zone B – Areas determined to be located in a 500 – Year floodplain. (Properties are not required to carry flood insurance if they are located in flood zone B.)
- Flood Zone C and X – Areas determined to be located outside of a 500 – Year floodplain. Located high and dry.
For more complete and detailed FEMA flood zone definitions here is a link directly to FEMA's page. FEMA Flood Zone Designations.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service provides a National Wetlands Survey Website along with a Wetlands Mapper. This is a good website.
Lastly I would like to include a link to the City of New Orleans Flood Zone Maps. They are provided in a east to use PDF format and are itemized by zip code.
Thank You
Marc

Hi Marc. Can I build in a critical drainage area?
admin says
Yes, you are able to build in a critical drainage area, however you may have other considerations, ie to build a raised home, or possibly a wetlands determination through the Army Corps of Engineers. Hope this helps, thank you, Marc.
