The St. Tammany Humane Society and Baldwin Subaru Partner to “Share the Love” and Find Forever Homes for St. Tammany’s Homeless Pets
An estimated 70 percent of Subaru Owners Have Pets; More than Any Other Auto Manufacturer
Covington, LA (12/6/2014) — The St Tammany Humane Society will join the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and Subaru of America for the annual year-end Subaru “Share the Love” event and celebration, which kicks off November 20, 2014 and runs through January 2, 2015. As part of this national effort, St Tammany Humane Society and Baldwin Subaru have teamed up to create off-site adoptions at the Covington dealership on Saturday, December 6th from 10 am until 4 pm.
St. Tammany Humane Society will have their adoptable dogs and cats on hand. During the event, all adoption fees will be waived. There will be free Santa Paws Photos, a Doggie Van Geaux and Kitty Monet Painting Auction, and live Music by Christian Serpas and Ghost Town Acoustic. Lake Harbor Youth and Pets Club will be selling Hot Chocolate and Baked Goods during the event to benefit the Humane Society.
For every new Subaru purchased or leased during the “Share the Love” event, Subaru donates $250 to the owner’s choice of participating charities, one of which is the ASPCA. The ASPCA will be distributing its donation to support animal welfare organizations and life saving programs across the country and St. Tammany Humane Society is pleased to be a recipient of one of these grants.
In an effort to get as many homeless animals into homes for this holiday season, St Tammany Humane Society has invited other rescue groups to participate in the event, including the St Tammany Department of Animal Services.
“A Shelter is no place for an animal to spend the holidays or the rest of its life,” said Dr. Michelle Newfield, St. Tammany Humane Society Interim Director. “We are hoping that through offering free adoptions during this event, families who are considering adding pets to their household for the holidays will go with the adoption option. For every animal that is adopted, we are able to open the space to another animal in need.”
