Hello, this is my first posting on a blog created for St Tammany Parish Louisiana.
I grew up in Covington and currently live in Folsom and have lived here in St Tammany for most of my life. I was born in Metairie, but my family moved to Covington when I was in second grade, and except for a few years when I was in college at LSU, and then working on the MS Gulf Coast, I have lived, worked and played in St Tammany. I love it here. St Tammany is a very rural community with just enough urban life to have all of the amenities of a larger city. Green is how I think of St Tammany. Trees, Clean Air and lots of Wildlife are how I remember St Tammany growing up. I myself love to plant trees and have planted Persimmons, Peaches, Pears, Figs, Pecans, and Blueberries on my property in Folsom. I am also a member of the National Arbor Day Foundation, http://www.arborday.org/, an excellent organization that sends you 10 free trees every year that you are member. The past several years I have requested Cypress trees, which I have planted in and around my pond. I wish everyone was a member, especially since we lost so many trees from Katrina. Membership is very inexpensive. The LSU Agricultural Center / Extension Service http://www.lsuagcenter.com/, is also a great place to purchase trees for St Tammany, as well as an excellent resource for Gardening in St Tammany.
Well, my dogs are getting a bit restless for some attention so I am going to go, please post any questions about St Tammany Parish, and I will answer them to best of my abilities.
Thank You and God Bless, Marc Pellettiere, Realtor www.sttammanyhomesandland.com
