Writing contracts is very important. Paperwork must be in order to protect the client, either the buyer or seller. There cannot be any errors. Always double check the writing, and always use addendums. There is a new real estate contract going into effect in Louisiana, on January 1st, 2008. 4 hours of continuing eduaction is required for all Licensed Realtors in the State of Louisiana.

hi if you don’t use the new real estate contract effective this january is the old contract dated 11 of 2006 valid?
First off I want to apologize for the time lapse from your post. 5 days. I am slacking. The answer is yes and no. If you are a real estate agent then the contract should be rewritten on the new forms, that solves that problem.
You could proceed and the sale should go through, however the agent may be fined or reprimanded by the LREC (The Louisiana Real Estate Commission). If the contract is just between two parties, without representation/agents, then the contract is valid as long as the dates are still good. In theory, you, personally, could write a contract on a cardboard box, as long as it fulfills the requirements per Louisiana regulations. I believe, don’t quote me, they are; two eligible parties, a piece of property (land, car, horse), and value, what exchanges hands in the sale (money/stocks, etc)
